God is just an imaginary being thought up by humans. There is certainly no reason to think that any of the established religions are correct in any of their assumptions. So, even IF there was a higher being, such ideas as following "him", serving "him", worshipping "him", even believing in "him" become useless exercises. Heaven and Hell do not exist. I dont believe in God, and even if there is one, it doesnt matter anyway because the ideas of the Bible and other religions are totally meaningless mythology. There is nothing to gain by believing in God, and nothing to lose by not. Religion is just a lot of wasted energy and thought, and I'd rather use my energy and thought to make THIS world a better place.

Observation of reality. The human brain is easily fooled. There are explanations for so many things now that were once attributed to god that it's plain to see that the truth of god is that he is a human invention to explain the unexplained and give meaning to an otherwise seemingly meaningless and finite life.
On top of this observe how many different religions there are in the world today that are still practiced. Then take a look at all of the religions that have existed over time and have failed. How can anyone for certain know that what they believe is absolute truth when the only thing that is established as evidence is a self supporting document (the bible).
As far as being created it seems quite absurd to me that something as complex as intelligence existed before anything else did.
I could go on forever, but for now i think that pretty much sums up how im pretty sure there is no god.

This sounds more like an attack than a question.
I don't consider myself atheist, but I'm not Christian either.
Atheists believe there is not God, but I don't know about higher power. Something is in control of all of this world, this life. What could it be? There are many answers to that. Some say "nature" is the higher power.
My concern really isn't what people believe. I believe it is ok to believe in God, or Allah, or Nature, or any of the above. My problem is when people try to force their views on one another, or attack other people's point of views. We teach children that their opinions are valid, so long as they can back up their point of view. Same with religions.
Also, there are many many religions in the world other than Christianity; some OLDER than Christianity, which further more leads me to believe that there can not be one "true" god.
Regligions were CREATED. Look back. Do your research. Religions were the first form of government. They were created to help keep people good, give them a purpose. I'm not saying this is a bad things at all, because it isn't.
But there isn't one true answer to this debate, and it will rage on forever.

How many times does this question have to be asked?
I have read the Bible. I have gone to church. On no occassion have I ever felt anything that Christians describe as the "Holy Spirit". All the way from childhood on up I have never been impressed or touched by relgious claims. I have searched for answers only to discover that religious though involves a great deal of magical thinking and superstition.
I find religions claims of exclusivity to be repusive, their insistence that they are right and everyone else is horribly wrong (or outright evil) arrogant, and their proclamations about how God wants this or that (often conflicting) laughable. The denial of science, evidence, and rational thought saddens me, and the eager embrace of ignorance as a virtue apalls me.
Why should I believe in a higher power, especially one that acts as if it doesn't exist? One that claims to be loving and just but whose works are exactly the opposite?
As far as I am concerned, we are on our own. As it should be.

Here we go again........... why don't you search for the answers given to the 300 other christians who have already asked that question?
What makes me so sure there is no god or higher power? What makes you so sure there IS a god or higher power?
I find the whole higher power idea silly, with no logic or evidence to back it up. So why would I believe?

Lack of the same thing that makes you believe in stories of fantasy from a couple thousand years ago. You obviously have faith and "so on", in your higher power that you call Christ. Some people choose not to believe everything they are told, and search for something else, many times finding the same hypocrisy and corruption in any religion. Christians, like many other religious followers ignore the facts, science, and the simple mythology of their religions to make everyone else that doesn't believe seem like the "strange ones."

I am not an atheist but i do know that 90% of you people have not studied other religions like Judaism and Islam.(You can forget studying other religions like Hinduism cuz they arent logical at all)
Just think for a moment and try to realize that can a 10 year old child even comprehend the basic laws of motion or even the basics of calculas.
Can we make an animal understand mathematics. It is impossible if you even try. So by this you can see that we humans CANNOT UNDERSTAND GOD!!!!!
We are much inferior to God. We cant even imagine what he is like. Just as a 10 year old can't say that the quantum theory is logical. (If you dont know what quantum physics is....look it up)

I had been believing in God for all my childhood bcoz my parents are so much devoted for God and they did with thier all heart. But soon I got their is no such thing like God anywhere.
How the God word exist actually. This is kind of mind mapping what save people from to be very arogent and doing bad things. Its a kind of fear in the mind what save us from all that.I am concern with many monk since my childhood and I am watching everyone all those year and recently i started to ask a question to everyone-They believe it God and they are doing all these things. Are you happy? Everybody was spechless for a moment and eventhough they answer me later but that question i saw them to ask themselves.
My point is if God born himself then why not a man could be selfborn. How much it is possible that we are the experiment of different species somewhere in space.
whenever I was in problem I ask to God and soon i realize he never come to help us.I face many thing and my family as well. They are believer in God but when they had a need of God,God was not there we fought with all those disaster and I dont want to give any credit to God,Because we face all that,we fought all that.
Last year I meet an old man and he was so panic and i thought what could be the worse thing he could do for what he is facing all that.I saw many child who died in early age. What could be the possible thing he could die so early.Possibly nothing, eventhough if they suffer what could be enough to prove this point that there is no existence of God.
And about life after death.I hope no body write all this thesis after their death. It was just before when they are alive.

A. Different religions
B. Different denominations in 1 religion saying that their way is right.
C. Lack of witnessing God.
D. How religions die out with cultures (not many believe in the Roman gods anymore)
E. Being lied to by the church on many occasions (they didn't officially proclaim the earth wasn't the center of the universe until the late 90's)
All of this adds up to no God in my mind.

I look at the world and all of its horrors .. from war to sickness to famine to tsunami and can only assume that if there is some all powerful all knowing Creator he or she or it must be profoundly evil and uncaring. Since I refuse to believe we are simply pawns of an evil "god" I choose not to believe in god. I feel it is time for mankind to grow up and stop having "faith" and start looking at truth and fixing our world. God, if he is out there, doesn't care and that is obvious. So screw god and lets make it better ourselves.
