The primary weapon was the balloon bomb. The only success they had with it was when a sunday school group found one it exploded killing several people. They also early in the war shelled california on a couple of occasions The distance to there bases made such attacks ineffective. They would get here then have to go home due to lack of fuel.

No they did not.
They launched a few balloons to start fires over Oregon, but never attacked the mainland. They did not have subs like the other guy said

Balloon bombs. My old home town in North Central Texas was hit by one. It fell in the school yard. My old home town has the distinction of being the only town in Texas to suffer aerial bombardment by Imperial Japan.
Another one fell near Rising Star, Texas but landed in a pasture, not even near a town.

they didn't attack the main land...they caused a few firesd, little mayhem, in Oregon attacked the Alaskan islands (subs) and of course Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (planes, missiles) although I guess it depends on how you define "attacked" when it come to Oregon...if you have any doubts check any history book.

No they didn't - don't exaggerate - the war had been going for over 2 years before Pearl Harbour.
