Coming from someone with an unusual name (Cecile - like Cecilia but without the ya sound at the end), please don't do that to your child. In school I always hated the beginning of the year and when we had a sub, because I knew when they called the role my name was going to be butchered and no one ever knew by looking at the name whether I was a girl or a boy. Stick with a name that people will recognize (but not necessarily a common one).

I wanted something different for my daughter also. I liked the name Kacey, so I changed it to Kazi. Everyone calls her crazy Kazi! IRA, or what about the name Allison but spelled beginning it with the letter I. "Illason" I don't know that's a hard letter to work with. Good Luck!

There is an autrailian actress named Isla Lang Fisher. She was in Wedding Crashers--opposite Vince Vaughn. I thought that was a pretty name. I believe it is pronouced "Aisle La". Or at least, that is how I would pronouce it. Just like Islamorada, Florida.

Instead of making up some weird-looking name, why don't you use something more traditional but rare? There are some beautiful names that start with the "I" sound... Isetta, Eileen, Irene, Isobel, Ianna, or Idalia.
