the exchange rate is basically 8:1, perhaps a little less now. Like with any currency exchange, it's best to 'shop around' a little.

About 800 for $100, based on latest exchange rate, although the renminbi, or yuan, is still closely tied to the dollar in a tight range, although the peg was removed a year ago, which kept it an exact rate against the dollar. There is more pressure for China to loosen this relationship and let its currency trade more freely, making it easier for other countries to compete with trade.

100 dollars = 798 RMB at BOC on 8/15/06

10,000 dollars = 79,800 RMB

Rough calculation is 8 to 1 as RMB fluctuates little against the US dollar.

100,000 dollars = 798,000 RMB

Usually a period is used to seperate dollars from cents...hence I think some confusion about the amount you wanted to know about since you used a comma instead.

approximately 800 RMB. Remember these basic conversion (will be a little off on day to day banking): also useful for knowing how much you spent at the market!
1USD = 8 RMB
10USD = 80 RMB
50USD = 400 RMB
100USD = 800 RMB
1RMB = 0.125 USD
10 RMB = 1.25 USD
50 RMB = 6.25 USD
100 RMB = 12.50 USD

It depends on where you get the RMB. You can get about 790 RMB at the bank in China. You will get far less than 790 RMB at the Hong Kong airport. You can get as much as 830 RMB at some local shops in China.

Last I heard the official exchange rate is 7.9 to the dollar. so 790 Yuan for 100 dollars. I don't know if they still use RMB for forigners or not.
