My husband was born in Medellin, Colombia. His mother left him with his grandmother when he was about 5. He would like to locate her. He believes she would be living in Bogota. Any suggestions on how to locate someone in the area?

Try the cityhall. she might be registered there. (From local/National) Elections..Or zabasearch can help you too:) Or Hire a Private investigator:)...

Try contacting their local paper and maybe they can run a story about it...(MY mom found her half sister in Singapore through this) http://66.218.71.231/language/translation/translatedPage.php?lp=es_en&text=http%3a%2f%2fwww.eltiempo.com%2f....CLICK CONTACT...write in request for information..someone might read it and might be a little sympathetic

Im trying to look for the city tourism site but could not find one...maybe you can also ask help from their embassy??

Try This:
Contact Caracol Nocicias, Noticias RCN and City TV, they are the mayor news channels in Bogota, ask them to place an announcement in the News (they will ask you for some background to verify that is not a scam) and try (I say try because is not somebody lost) to talk to the DAS (Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad) section lost people.
The phones:
City TV: 3444060
Rcn: 4269292
Caracol: 5932222

All from Bogota

Good luck
