Blackpool is tacky. It's good clean family fun, but i don't think it has the majestic beauty and history behind it to become a world heritage site. Maybe the tower though. it's instantly recognisable

I don't think the whole world is ready for Blackpool just yet.
We don't need the red tape and bureaucracy involved in a world heritage site. Very few people outside England would be able to understand what Blackpool is all about.

I think we all agree that it is different to any other place, but I reckon it shouldn't be messed with by a load of foreign bureaucrats

No way. Blackpool is the embodiment of Saturday night autumn naffness in Britain. No surprise that Strictly Come Dancing was filmed there. If it wants to be a World Heritage Site it has to be in the same league as the Giant's Causeway, the Grand Canyon, Greenwich Park, the Sagrada Famillia and so on. Maybe the tower, but no the whole town.

what a joke - havana is a world heritage site, i don't see a comparison with blackpool. Any tacky british beach resort is the same as it

First off it needs a bl@@dy good clean up then to get rid of all the cheap and nasty pubs ,stop day long happy hours and close clubs at 2am,ban drinking on the streets and arrest all drunks, apart from these few things it's a nice place lol

Maybe the tower, but other than that its a dump, full of paupers!!

No offence meant for the people who live there, just the idiots who go for the w/end and spoil it for families....
