I am 12 years old [turning 13 in december], and i think that i'm overweight. i'm about 5'5 and 125-130 lbs. I'm really tall for my age, and i think i have a lot of belly fat. All my friends have flat stomachs except for me. Is it just baby fat that will go away? or do i seriously need to go on a diet? I don't want to go on a diet with any diet pills though. If anyone can give me answers, that'd be great. Thank you!!

Belly fat is normal at your age, usually goes away when you get to be 13 or 14. Your weight seems very healthy and normal to me.
If you wish to try to diet, do it easily, eat healthy foods and cut down on portions. Cut out pop if you can (huge problem for teens). One good way to get rid of belly fat is bicycling and abdominal crunches. They don't have to be hard to do, just lie on floor and put legs up in air and lift them straight to the ceiling. Or alternate lifting your elbows to your opposite knees.
Good luck to you. Don't worry too much about your weight, everyone is different.

You probably don't need to go onto a diet or anything. If you are concerned about your weight though, you should make a decision to eat healthier. Tell your parents too that you would like to eat more healthly. This way they can buy better foods for you to have at home, and you don't need a diet, just a better routine. If you are want to work on your stomach in particular, you could do some situps or some cardio to help you build muscle/lose fat in your body and tone up your stomach. But this early, I don't think you actually need a diet plan, just a plan to eat better and get a little more exercise.

YOU'RE FINE!!! Don't sweat it. If you're self-conscious about your belly fat you can make your stomach appear smaller by doing ab exercises every other day. Here are a few tips to help you keep the flab at bay: (1) Cut out soft drinks or cut way down on them. A recent study shows that you can gain 15 pounds in one year by drinking one can of Coke per day. (2) Use a common-sense approach to eating. Don't eat when you're not hungry, don't stuff when you do eat, cut down on the "bad for you" stuff like fast food, junk food, sweets, processed flour and sugar, saturated fat, etc., and instead eat more "good for you" stuff like whole grains, fruits and vegetables, lean meats, and lowfat dairy products. (3) Take a tablespoonful of olive oil before each meal. Olive oil is high in monounsaturated fat, which is very good for you, and it's also a natural appetite suppressant. (4) Eat a high-fiber diet. Fiber fills you up and helps your body get rid of the "bad" fat in your system. Try to get 25-30 grams of fiber a day.

Sounds to me like your weight is fine for your height, but you are mainly concerned about your abs...at your age that can be firmed suprisingly quickly! Doing simple crunches and bicycle type exercises will make it flat , well...in no time...flat!
Don't worry about your weight in numbers!! (especially at 12!) You'll have some major changes in your bod over the next 3 to 5 years :) Good luck and drink lots of water!

Diet pills are not good for you, or evan most adults. What you need to do is make sure you are doing FUN exercises, like playing basketball, swimming, or rollerblading. Also, control your urge to eat all the junk food. Switch to whole grains (bread, pasta noodles) and keep up on your fresh fruits and veggies. For snacking, you can eat all the nuts you want, like peanuts, walnuts, etc.

Its not healthy to have a flat stomach. It is good to have a little bit of belly fat. At your height, you are at a perfect weight for you.

You're 12 and shouldn't worry about such things. It's responsible of you to be concerned about it at such a young age, but don't stress. Eat well, avoid junk food and soda..excercise and you'll be fine. People develop and change at different speeds. NO PILLS!!

I think if you get more active it'll take care of most of it. You're still growing, so I don't think you have that much to worry about in the weight department. However, work at keeping your weight no higher than where it is now....and EXERCISE! Run, walk, just get out there.
