I know exactly how you feel. I am on medication for depression/anxiety disorder and probably will be for the rest of my life.
When I first started taking meds a few years ago, I hated the idea that I was dependent on them. I stopped taking mine when I started feeling better, which was a really dumb move, as you yourself are discovering.
Absolutely start taking them again. Mental illness is a MEDICAL issue, which is why there is medication for it. It's the same as any other chronic illness like diabetes.
I know about the fear that medication will change you. Of course it changes you...it makes you HEALTHY! I was terrified that if I took medication, I wouldn't be the same person I was. Of course, now I realize that I am so much better than the person I was.
I am completely different now that I am on medication, but I haven't lost anything important or crucial to what makes me who I am. All I have lost is the overwhelming depression, the suicidal thoughts, the anxiety, the irritability, and the pain. What I have uncovered is a beautiful, healthy young woman with so much to offer myself and to the world.
I know how scared you are and I know how hard this is for you, but you have to see your doctor and you have to get yourself back on those meds. Give it a chance. I mean, if all that stands between you and a healthier mind, body, and spirit, is a tiny pill or two (or three) a day, isn't that worth it? Get up each day, swallow your pills, and get on with your life. I did and I am so glad!
You can do it, sweetie!

You absolutely should continue your medication! For the rest of your life! For some people such as yourself, me and many others, it has to become a way of life, so as to have quality of life. As I'm sure you are aware you are probably lacking in serotonine. This is not something to be ashamed of anymore than any other physical aliment.
If you find the medication you are on is not working or makes you feel worse, than try something else. I changed medications many times until I found what worked best for me.
Don't live life this way when you have alternatives. Take advantage of what medications are out there and start enjoying life.
Take care!

I would go on them again, and only stop taking them if you are under the care of a dr. They only change you into a person who is able to cope with things, depression is a very common disease, and dont be ashamed of it, lots of people have been diagnosed with it. But start taking your anti-dpressants for sure - they'll only make you happier and able to see things more clearly.

Yes you should go back on them, especially since you seem to have major depression and want to kill yourself. Medication doesnt change you and your values and views, but it helps you just cope with life, its not normal to want to really kill yourself so why live a miserable life if you dont need too??? Call your dr. and see if there are any other options!

Call a mental health care professional as soon as possible. Let them know what medication you are/were taking and how much you have taken, when you stopped, etc. Many medications for depression must be tapered off, and can't be stopped abruptly. Please do consult a professional. Best regards to you.

Dont you think you have answered you own question???? Look at what you wrote and how you feel. I was stopped taking my meds and was just like you, I was scared to start taking them again so I called my doctor. He calmly talked to me and told me to start taking them immediately. Please start taking them you don't want to end up doing something that would break your family and friends hearts. Good luck.

I would start taking them again. Your not a freak, you probably have a chemical imbalance in the brain. It's just like being diebetic, you need outside chemicals to balance your body. It doesn't make you less of a person. Please start taking them, for you family and friends and all of us at Yahoo :)

yeah, take 'em. nobody seems to like takin' 'em (except these mysterious people whose medications make them cheery as hell), but, if it's as bad as all that, take 'em. you can always kill yourself ON 'em, if needed.
