During the teathing process, things can be difficult. We found out small slices of avacado, banana, cheerios, hard boiled eggs, softened (cooked)apples, plums, steamed broccoli, and raisins. We tried a million different things all to see what she could and couldn't eat. When doing these things take note of your childs appearence and mannersims, because if you are trying new foods allergies you may not have known about tend to show up and can cause problems. If so notify your pediatrician so that it can be noted on the babies medical records for their knowledge and make notes yourself so you know you will have problems. AVOID CHOCOLATES AND CANDIES! This is the time to get your child addicted to healthy foods and more important, they are cheaper! Good luck.

cut up some fruit, if that would be to slippery for him (like bananas or canned peaches are great) roll the pieces in dry baby cereal. Another one - my daughter used to looove lightely steamed sweet peas, soft baked potatoes cut in cubes.
P.S. don't know why so many people here are suggesting carrots (unless boiled). They are good for teething to chew on a big one, but cut small pieces as finger foods - NO, not really, VERY easy to choke on!!

Finger foods-anything your baby can pick up and not choke on... slice up in tiny pieces some baby carrots. Add some bits of baked/grilled chicken to it.
CHERIOS!!! That's every kid's favorite.
Any fruit, cut it up in pieces!
Give your child anything natural, veggies, or fruit in small bites, so they can start off the right way w/the right nutrition, so they don't get used to food that is sweet or salty. They're harder to wean off when they've started as such. Check out the site below, if you haven't already. They always have GREAT info on anything!

Yup on the Cheerios. Gerber makes a lot of good first finger foods. They've got some good cereal puffs that are veggie or fruit flavored that my kids loved. Has your pedicatrian ok'd eggs yet? We started with scrambled eggs made with egg yolks only, which one kid loved (the other one still won't touch eggs). Have fun with this!

I thought anything that was edible is a finger food for a baby. :) They lack the manual dexterity to use a fork and spoon.
Cheerios are good from what I have heard, and fruits in moderation. Don't want him to get a rash from too many berries or get diarrhea.

Cheerios, crackers, Puffs (a food by Gerber that comes in fruit or vegetable flavors), cut up pieces of toast
Ask your doctor if you have concerns about when to start, but a good general rule is when they can sit up by themselves.

He needs to have teeth 1st! You might want to get a net teether to put food in. I know you can get them at toys r us, and target. You put an apple, banana etc in it, and it wont let chunks go through. I think my little one was closer to 1 before i gave her finger food.

I would be very carful about some of those sugestions. Raw carrots are VERY bad for that age. Boil them for a minute and soften them up. Best way to tell if its good for baby is try it yourself. Put it in your mouth and if you can "chew it up" without useing your teeth, push it against the roof of your mouth with your tounge. If it mushes up your good to go. Some things I gave my kids are, Little squares of toast with jam or cheese whiz, Nutrigrain bars cut up (very messy though), cooked veggies cut up (buy the mixed frozen veggies and cook them in the micro for 2 minutes), canned friut cocktail (mush it with a fork a little), tried milk products yet? little squares of cheddar or mozza cheese. Hope that helps.
