Acording to the Bible, adultry is the ONLY acceptable reason for divorce.

Hi neridale,

i'm not sure what you mean by mortal sin. But when two people get married they make their vows before God and others (as a witness) that they will do their best to fulfill those vows.

Apart from adultery and abuse- there are very few issues which a couple can not work out. The Bible is clear that God does not like divorce.

From reading your other questions- you seem to have quite a curiousity about what is and what isn't sin. Sin at it's very essence is choosing to follow our own ways instead of God's ways. The key to following God's way is to know Him personally through Christ.

i hope that helps and understand that apart from denying Jesus (the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit) there is no sin that can not be forgiven. Many sins that God shares His heart with us from in His word are for our protection. Divorce scars both parties as well as the kids- and sometimes even extended family.

Hope that helps,

Nickster

All sin is an offense before God and should be punished because God is just. We have all sinned many times over if we are honest with ourselves. This grieves God, but Jesus came to take our punishment and bear sin on the cross. " For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus the Lord. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved" Jesus said "repent and believe the gospel". Who or what are you trusting? Turn to Christ today depending on what He did to remove your sin and its penalty and forsake any sins in your life that you know of. God Bless you and may His peace be upon you!

I would be inclined to say yes because you pretty well covered all the bases as to what conditions God says must be met for divorce to be legitimized.

What if they just don't love each other anymore and are miserable? Is that a 'good' reason?
