There are expiration dates because it's the bottle that expires, not the water. Plastic contains synthetic estrogen and after a certain amount of time that chemical will begin to seep into the liquid that's in the bottle and it may cause health problems. Hope that helps!

Bottled water is considered to have an indefinite safety shelf life if it is produced in accordance with CGMP and quality standard regulations and is stored in an unopened, properly sealed container. Therefore, FDA does not require an expiration date for bottled water. However, long-term storage of bottled water may result in aesthetic defects, such as off-odor and taste. Bottlers may voluntarily put expiration dates on their labels.

Water does go bad. Bottled water has more bacteria to start with than tap water. The older it is the more bacteria may grow. If the water has been refrigerated the whole time I would not have a problem drinking it.

It will get stagnant and stale. It will make you sick if you drink it. I can't stand water that's been sitting around for more than a day. I have to empty the bottle, wash it out, fill it up, and refrigerate it until it's ice cold before I'll drink it.

Actually, it's not because water goes bad hence 'distill'. It's because of the packaging container. The bottled are made of plastic, and over time plastic will begin to flavor the water, making it taste ... plasticy, like the bottle.

A few reasons.

They cannot guarantee the packaging avter so many years. Putting a date on itlimits thier liability

FDA Regulations

People throw things out after expiration date, so its good for them

Because there are bacteria in the water, and there is an expected growth rate for it. So, after that expiration date, the amount of bacteria could be at very high unhealthy levels. Bottled water actually has more bacteria in it than tap water. I guess that is what you are paying for.

i think maybe its required to put an expiration date...but if you ever really looked at the date, its always years from when you buy the water so i think its all good.
