Not sure, but I'm guessing either tomodachi-san or O tomodachi.

"Shinyuu" is a very, very close friend, someone you are very comfortable with and intimate. But you can have more than one "shinyuu".
You can also say "ichiban suki na tomodachi", which literally means "friend I like the most", but this is not a close translation to "best" friend. Shinyuu would probably work best.

I think "shin-yuu" is the most appropriate word for "best friend".

The next best matched word is "muni no shin-yuu". It literally means "the only best friend". But it is seldom used.

I like Purpslinger's answer but I have to say JudasHero's answer is describing better except "shin yuu" doesn't meant intimate
;-)

"Ichiban tomodachi", but I doubt you'd hear it ever used.
