My boyfriend and I have been together for about a year and a guy at my school asked if I wanted to go out and have drinks, he knows I am in a relationship but my boyfriend is so controling and jealous that I have not told him what I am doing. I have never cheated on my boyfriend and never will but I hate to lie to him about something that is nothing

You are in the wrong. If it really were "nothing", you would have told you boyfriend about it right up front.

1) If you think it might be cheating, it probably is.
2) If you wouldn't do it right in front of them, it is cheating.
3) If you feel the need to keep it secret (other than a surprise party), it is cheating.

1) Yes, you are in the wrong - you shouldn't be seeing someone else on the sly. If the outing is innocent, there shouldn't be a reason to lie.
2) If your boyfriend is controlling and jealous, you probably should break up with him because that is not healthy. Don't let him feed you the line that he is that way because of you, he is responsible for his own actions.

Jealous people have only themselves to blame when they get lied to.

They get lied to a lot because they can't handle the truth.

The truth that their low self-esteem stands in the way of their and their partner's happiness.

There is nothing wrong with being jealous. It is normal to be jealous, most people are. The problem with jealousy lies in not recognizing it for what it is and letting it cloud one's judgement.

Your boyfriend can perfectly control his jealousy, all he needs to do is to acknowledge it. Lying to him does not particularly help him, nor you. It is better to be upright about your doings and let him make his own decisions about it. Why would you need a controlling person? How is he going to control you, if he can't even control himself?

yes you are in the wrong....or you wouldn't have had to ask yahoo people about this. You should dump your jealous/controlling bf.....that's a red flag right there..but I can't say I blame him for being that way if you're doing this sort of thing behind his back!!! If it's nothing then you'd just tell your bf the truth!Good luck!
