Perm is short for "permanent wave"...a process for curling your hair using chemicals so that the curl stays in for a few months.

It is a chemical (one of several) that allows you to either curl your straight hair, or straighten your curly hair. It is called a Perm because the effects are "permanent" meaning they don't wash out they have to grow out.

Its frying your hair so it will temporarily be curly. 'perm' stands for permanent, but i think it lasts like 6 months.
