Different meaning to 'pride' in most cases.

It is not, for example, a sin to take pride in doing something well. It is sinful to be 'proud' in the sense that you think others are of less value than yourself, however.

I know that you asked this in order to be divisive. That is also sinful (just so you know) - but that is between you and God.

In Bhagavad Gita there is mention of one of the element of Creation as Ego. So there is explanation that there is a True Ego and a False Ego.
To understand that we are the owner of everything is called False Ego. and to Understand that God is the owner of everything is true ego.
So taking pride in Gods service or Religion is True Ego and it is not bad. But Taking Pride in Self Achievement thinking self as God is False Ego and is the cause of our fall-down to this material world.
So Ego is not to be destroyed. That is self annihilation. Is has to be purified to True Ego of being Servant of God
