People have grown lazy when it comes to forming their own thoughts and beliefs about situations and events. It is much easier to simply take on the belief of another and you run much less of a risk of being an outcast if you end up denouncing the beliefs of the "incrowd."
People want to be liked and included so many will simply adapt the thoughts the thoughts of others if it means that they will be able to be included and seen as one of the group.
Take for example the Branch Davidians or any other similar group. One person with a singular belief able to make others take on his belief with the perception of family love and inclusion if they take on his ideals, values and morals.
It is sad that so many have stopped thinking for themselves, since diversity is what makes things unique and great.

I just want to comment on your statement:
...when one Muslim commits one crime they are all condemned yet if a Chrisitan is a serial murder do we assume all Christians are this? Do we judge all Jews, and Christians based on the actions of one as we do Muslims...
I am a Practicing Eclectic Pagan Witch -- and everyone assumes that because there are witches out there who practice "black" magick to harm others that we all do. It's not fair. Why is the only group the seems to be usually exempt from this issue Christanity? Like you said -- if one Christian is a serial killer -- we don't assume they all are.
Blessings and Light!

Christians have their fair share of blood stained robes. The dehumanizing process makes it easier to hear of countless deaths and atrocities of other people. People would rather be told the comforting words then pay attention to the reality of it all.
That's why I feel centralized religion as a whole might be a bad thing. Too many people thinking that since heaven is the next step after life, that there is no need to fix the problems of today. They're very much asleep and they use their bible as the big "Do NOT Disturb" sign hanging on the door.

If we all had to fingure everything out for ourselves from day one... we'd never advance as a race. We learn from the wisdom of others through the years, and from their mistakes. "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it"
Nor can we all be experts in all things. So we need the assistance of many people who have developed expertise in their fields. I contribute where I can, but depend on others for their knowledge.
Politics and religion govern the masses... no matter what kind of brain you may have to conform or be left out. What we need are smarter leaders... so that the masses are encouraged to think... not obay and follow blindly.
As for the judgement thing... I agree, too many people follow blindly and believe the medias exageration of events. I would hope though, that the people that are being steriotyped realize this and set an example of goodness so that people would see that not all of one race or religion are bad... if anything its the very few bad apples that give the impression of a spoiled bunch.

Sounds to me like you are falling in line with all the anti administration people I have been hearing almost exclusively on the news and the news programs. It also sounds to me like because I am a christian you assume that I don't do my own thinking. Also you make the president sound like he is lining up our young people ans mowing them down with a machine gun. We are out helping a new country gain a freedom that they have never seen or heard of before. A free nation in a friendly nation, much less likely to carry out attacks on our sons and daughters.. I feel pain for the Lebanese people caught between an aggressor like Hezbollah and the army of Israel. Not at all the same feeling I saw the reaction I saw in Palestine to the news that Trade Towers in New York had been attack on 9/11. Up till that day I didn't think a person had to come from the west to feel sympathy. I guess they showed those ideas to be false...Jim

It would seem that we are intrinsically lazy. It is far simpler to let others make decisions for you. I actually think that religion should be taught in schools... by that I mean as many religions as they could expose you to in a year. It should be a separate class (elective) and should not interfere with the teachings of other classes. Education, is always a good thing.

I have read the Qu'ran and it has much hate in it that is used by fanatics to commit atrocities. The problem I have is with the support for the fanatics by the "moderates"
You can not claim you are peaceful while you support violence
I do not care for your wars or religions.

It comes from the way we are raised. We count on our parents to teach us all about the world, since babies don't even know what words mean. Most people are just old babies.

All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of their faith so they can have a place in Heaven.
Let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to Heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to Heaven and He wants you to be there with me?"
