...is it acceptable that the avatars here do not have burkas? Would you rather they had that option? I'm just curious, not trying to start a flame war.

Edit, please sub Muslim for Islamic, I stand corrected. I admit I am an idiot on this issue. It was an honest question and I was just curious if the lack of avatars that reflect this dress was offensive. Apparantly my question is what is offensive.

I'm amazed and dismayed by the furor this instills in some people.

that is up to opinion. The avatars are not true depictions of us.

Some women have created their own who have more modest dress. You can see a few on my friends 360. http://360.yahoo.com/profile-8AdzsoE9cqoQbdNLolNx3aM3WJPKWtXg

But burkas are not required by any Muslim woman. Her choice in dress is still her choice.

The Quran says we must be modest and veil our ornaments.

Your are an idiot. Burkas are the cultural dresses of some Middle Eastern countries. It has nothing to do with Islam. It just happens that most people in the Middle east are Muslim. The Christian and Jewish women in those countries also wear burqas. Learn to distinguish religion from culture!!!

This is becoming really unbelievable Why are people so taken up with the avatars? They are just pictures. If they are bothering you so much and whoever has a problem with it, why not just use a picture of yourself or whatever signs or anything else you want to use. I am sure there are more interesting things you can talk about. It is sad that you are wasting your time on petty things.

Haha what a question!

I think I would like to see avatars with women wearing hijab (Head cover), it differs from a burka, which covers the face.
Not essential though, but would be a great addition.

well u should first see what u are capable of.

u say so much about other's mothers, wives and daughters that u have left ur women unnoticed.

is it not the responsibility of a man to safegaurd his woman rather than letting her flaunt her body and have illegimate relationships.? or is it that u have not been taught to protect ur women?

That is OK you have your email open so they can flame you privately.

Actually I'm hoping for a comeback of the burka run through the fashion industry redesigns. Can't wait to see it.

Just get a pic of cousin "IT" from the Addams family album it will do...but you should really be worried about being beaten should your husband discover you can actually use the Internet...could get stoned, and I mean literally, the Muslim version with rocks!!
