Because there are too many applicants and too few workers to check and assemble and approve or refuse everything. Have you noticed on this Answers topic how many people ask how they can get to or stay in the US, and how few ask how they can work for USCIS?

based on your question, no one can really answer you question properly.... we would need more info.... what country are you refering to.... what visa did you file for, where did you file etc....
but just based on what you asked and what I know here are my thoughts: I am making the assumption you are talking about the USA....
if you are applying to enter the USA - I am not quite familiar with how that works, but thtey tend to take some time with those, if this is the get married to someone or if you are already married to someone, the length depends on if the person is a citizen or not.....
In either case you can contact the embassy in your country to find our info.....
now if you are already in the USA..... that is different.....
if you are applying for a visa to stay to marry someone, i am not sure how that works, but it should not take long, you can call and verify the status....
if you are applying for change of status after you married someone, or a visa to stay here, you can contact the uscis, if a certain amount of time has passed. Maybe something was wrong with your application.
I do not know the details of your application, but from my own experience, these things can take very very long or very short, but it depends on many things.

Maybe they figure you will get tired of waiting, and will give up?!But seriously, there a probably too many cases, and to few case workers. This country is going through a very tough time with the immigration thing right now....

A marriage visa to where? My Texan hubby came to live here in the UK and he walked into the British Consulate at 10am and later that afternoon picked up his visa!
