It is used to treat High blood cholesterol in young adults.

Lipitor® (atorvastatin calcium) is a synthetic lipid-lowering agent. Atorvastatin is an inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase. This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate, an early and rate-limiting step in cholesterol biosynthesis.

20 mg tablets: coded "PD 156" on one side and "20" on the other.

white and kind of an oval shaped has the imprints PD 156 and on the back the number 20 a break line where you can cut it in half researched a bit and found that the PD 156 is a lipitor but what exactly is a lipitor

PD 156 is Lipitor 20mg. Lipitor blocks the body's ability to make cholesterol, therefore lowering blood cholesterol levels.
