I definitely know tat relationship is not everything, but yet I can't stop myself from being affected. I just got out of a relationship which I initially thought was going to be forever. After this, I became cynical and depressed. My new and outstanding problems seem to magnify themselves. I can't seem to control my emotions and thoughts. Everything has gone haywire.

I am getting tired and weary. I know I wouldn't collapse, but I can't exactly stand tall either. Please give ideas on how to appreciate life or oneself more. Thank you.

But the thing is, relationships are so important - no wonder you feel so bad, especially if you thought it would be forever. That is going to hurt alot.
I think what you need to do is find yourself some good friends. Friends last even when romantic relationships come and go. Even if you don't feel that close to your friends, think of one you can maybe trust, and tell them how rotten you feel and that you need them to cheer you up.
Don't worry that you feel bad - this is totally natural. And you will feel loved & better again.
Try and write down what you're thinking/feeling. That can really help. And if possible try and get some counselling.
Do simple things you enjoy - whether it's window shopping or cycling or art or listening to music.
Also I'd recommend prayer - ask God to show you his love.
Best wishes and I hope you feel better soon. :)

This may sound weird, but I recommend reading the graphic novel "Death: the High Cost of Living" by Neil Gaiman, illustrated by Chris Bacchalo (sp?).

I don't know if you've ever read a comic book, but even if you haven't, give it a chance.

The story is about the incarnation of Death - the Angel of Death, you might say. Every hundred years, Death has to take human form for 24 hours, so she can fully understand the nature of the lives she takes.

It might sound kind of depressing, but it's just the opposite. It's a sweet, fun, entertaining read. It made me feel really positive about life and changed my attitude.

This is not to say that a comic book can tell you how to think or solve your emotional problems. But sometimes you find postitive messages in the strangest places!

Just a suggestion. Feel better soon.

Oh, one more thing... you might consider volunteering. Working with people who are really needy will give you new perspective on your own problems.

Know that if you are devastated by the loss of an important relationship you are experiencing a normal response to a personal crisis. Your sense of loss reflects your commitment to that relationship. You cannot grieve if you did not love. Sometimes we focus so much on our intimate relationship that we forget that we can offer our love to others and feel their love in return. Be a love transmitter. Love your family, your friends, the Starbucks barista. Your love will see you through.

No need to be cynical. just be emotionally detached from everything. Earn a good living and enjoy your life properly. Eat healthily and exercise. Keep fit and stay alive.
