I wonder, and I have read that if the body isn't fit the mind isn't either. I should make a note that I am not in the best of shape, but I think that "spiritual enlightenment" would be a great motivator.

Man (male or female) is a Triune Being.
You are a Spirit
You have a Soul (second mind)
You live in a Body
Everything is tied together, everything affect's everything else.
The Spirit is the Most Powerful of the Three, it can overcome the other two till you get the other two (Soul, Body) straightened out (Healed--Body, Renewed--Soul).
How do you think People Lift Car's offa' other People in an Emergency Situation?
They go into the Spirit Completely and GOD helps them overcome the Weakness's in their Soul (doubt and unbelief) and Body(Super-Natural Human Strength--like Samson had--overcome's the Fraility of the Human Body) for a Short Time to Lift that Car.
The Spiritual REALM is far more Powerful than the Mental REALM or the Physical REALM.
Hope this helps.

Spiritual is in the mind however it's not reality and in order to see clearly wouldn't one have to live the reality of what is? If you don't you are blinded and there lies the imbalance.

Your mind and body are two sides of the same coin, the coin being one as a whole.

One can wear out one side of the coin while trying to keep the other side shiny.

A dent in one side of a coin will show through on the other side.

I believe that body, mind and spirit are one, and if one is out of balance, they are all off in some way.
People can poison there system with hate or jealousy etc., so I think it is important to flush the bad toxins that we may have, whether they be,upsetting the body mind or spirit,
We have all kinds of flushes out there, for the cars, for the faucets, it would be great if some of us could flush all the hate and negativity out of our bodies.
Sorry I got off the subject, I agree that physical fitness is very important to spiritual and mental fitness.

The Bible encourages deep respect for our body and the gift of life. King David of ancient Israel wrote: “In a fear-inspiring way I am wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14) Like David, true Christians display a keen appreciation for the gift of life. They consider properly caring for their body to be a serious responsibility.

Some two thousand years ago, God inspired the apostle Paul to write: “Bodily training is beneficial for a little; but godly devotion is beneficial for all things, as it holds promise of the life now and that which is to come.” (1 Timothy 4:8.) Paul’s words show that the benefits of exercise, while real, are not nearly as great as the long-term benefits of a good relationship with God. Hence, true Christians strive to be balanced in their pursuit of good health, never allowing “bodily training” to outweigh their worship of God.

Christians realize that the healthier they are, the more active they can be in manifesting their love of God and neighbor. Along with proper nutrition and rest, staying physically active is vital for good health. Cherishing their body as a gift from God, true Christians strive to maintain good habits in these areas.
