You probably should have been asking this before the baby was born. But now that it is here, you and your wife should sit down and really discuss this through. You should decide on what would be in the best interest for the baby not you. I was raised by a baptist Mother and Catholic Father, and they decided to leave religion out of our household and let us discover it on our own.

make a compromise or teach your son about both religions.the problem is how will u christening him:as a catholic or as a Hindu?talk with your wife and like i said make a compromise...he can't be both.only when he will be old enough he will understand the situation concerning religion.until then i think he will be very confused.may i give u an advice? i think u should talk with a priest or with an expert who knows how a child really thinks.

Whether you're Hindu or Catholic is irrelevant. just instill in your child the basic human values and leave the rest to God. Let your son develop and discover his own conscience based on your parenting skills and he'll be OK.

Well, I am Catholic and my spouse is, or used to be, Protestant (now claims having no religion). So we decided to teach our 2 children about both religions, so they can choose what they believe in when the are of age. I think that, if you force them into any believing, they would grow resentfully, or even thing they are missing something or even feel threatened or confused.

I think you should raise your son in both enviroments. Then when your son gets older and is able to comprehend and have a better understanding of the 2 religions have him chose his own path.

While I think it would be good to expose your son to both traditions, your other question says that your marriage is in trouble. So, raising him to your wife's preference might help the marriage.

If she is really a practicing Catholic I don't think she is going to give you many options - it will be the Catholic way or the highway.

Although I am a Christian, and strongly believe in it--I think it depends on where you live. If you live in India and the child will be ostracized for being a Christian, let him decide when he is old enough.

Teach your son about both of your religious beliefs and then let him make his own choice when he is old enough. Educate him, and set him free to make his own decision as to what religion he feels best expresses his beliefs. Please don't push him or force him into one or the other.

religion is overated, sure if it makes the difference in the world for one family or the other than do it, but this is the truth... teach your child not to more or less act in a certain manner because god, or to fear karma... but because in the end the only thing you have to answer for is your actions not your religious affiliation
