I know this seems like a basic, and almost silly question, but I was wondering what I can do to make a head of lettuce last longer while it is in the frig? Any advise would be appreciated.

1- don't cut with knife, it turns the leaves brown, better off ripping leaves off
2- when you put in fridge wrap with paper towel. It will absorb moisture and help maintain crispness. change paper towels every other day or when they appear real wet.

Never cut it with a metal knife, place it in a zip loc bag, make sure its dry, before you close the bag all the way breath in the bag. I heard this from a chef, the carbon monoxide in your breath helps it stay fresher longer, try it, it works!

Alot depends on how you clean it, how dry you get it before
bagging, and where you place it in the fridge.
