Chiropractors are quacks -- glorified masseurs.

Seems there is a lot of misinformation being presented in these entries. Those who seem to make the most dramatic accusations are not familiar with what a chiropractor does, apparently! They have no idea of the required education, nor the approach they take to health..

There are many chiropractors hired by professional teams as team physicians; there are many hospitals making them available to chiropractors; they continue to demonstrate success where the medical approach has failed, outstandingly, in the treatment of headaches and low back distress; they have (in California) added a BS in nutrition as a part of their educational accumen; their education in neurology has the equivelency to what is received by any neurologist; they may hire a physiotherapist or a massuese but, do not include this procedure in there education or practice. They are well versed in diagnostics, relative to their field of practice or know well where to refer them for further evaluation. Most work closely with their medical counterpart.

But the misconceptions continue!

It's one of those obscure subcategories of medicine (not even considered medicine really more like short term therapy) like homeopathic and alternative that seem to work, but aren't exactly 'recognized' methods and so have no place on the NHS. People who choose to use such methods do so privately.

Chiropractors are basically masseuses and masseurs -- nothing terribly medical about massage therapy (although it may feel good).

because it doesn't offer a long-term solution to the problem - it's a "quick fix" - it would be a bit like going to hospital with a broken arm and just getting morphine but not getting your arm set straight

Because they're not scientifically validated and there is evidence that manipulation of the neck has led to strokes.

If you want mumbo jumbo treatment, you pay for it.

PS my neighbour thought he was no better for his expensive treatment and my sister thought her kid was worse.
