I'm honestly interested in the reasons why Catholics, who believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, are not thought to be Christians by some evangelical Christians. All opinions, other than profanity, are welcome!

Catholics believe you have to have an intercessory Pope who as evident in cathechisms is revered as god on earth while he lives. Many other fallacies, alot pointed out here...

Christianity refers to any denomination that claims that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. This includes Catholic, Episopalian, Baptist, Methodist, really any church. Even some Scientologists claim Christianity. What some churches say (perhaps this is what the evangelicals are referring to) is that Catholics worship the Virgin Mary, and therefore are polytheistic. Catholics generally say they don't worship her, just revere her.

Just my thoughts on the matter. :)

Catholicism is founded by early Jewish Christians. The meaning of the Catholic is taken from the Greek word Katolos meaning universal. Jesus instituted universal belief and practice. The Romans on the other hand, after they decided to take Christianity as their country's official religion, adopted the word Catholic for its universal control being a Roman Empire. So, they become Roman Catholic Church.
The division started when Jewish who believe in Christ separated themselves from the Roman control and to distinguish themselves as a separate organization, they become Judeo-Christian Organization. Since then, any religon formed in the name of Christ has to separate itself from the Roman Dogmas and Doctrines addressing themselves after some saints or a breakaway leader like Martin Luther.

I think christians are more open, like u can make mistakes and god will forgive u. And also, anytime u allow jesus christ into ur heart u will be forgiven of all your sins and be reborn a christian, however, i believe catholics are more harsh on their rules and apply a much "traditional" way of worship

Christians are believers in Christ.
As do many other religions
The title Christian is derived from that belief
NO ONE RELIGION IS SUPERIOR TO THE OTHER
