It sounds like it COULD be Impetigo. If I were you, I would cover it with a gauze pad and take him to the doctor. They will give you something for it, but if it IS (and I am not a doctor or in the medical profession) Impetigo, it can spread quickly. The doctor can give you a salve to put on it that will heal it and stop it from spreading. Above all, WASH YOUR HANDS if you touch it, or if you touch near it! Good luck!!

Hmm- Check for ringworms. That sounds about like some of the symptoms listed when I ran a google search on them a few weeks ago.

What colour is the rash? Henonch Scholein Purpra starts off with a rash on the skin, red-purplish coloured dots/bumps. Any other symptoms?

it sounds like shingles to me. is he in pain and how old is he? shingles usually end up 'traveling' around the torso and are extremely painful. if you son is a toddler it might not be shingles as he would be too young, and chicken pox (which is caused by the same virus as shingles) could start from any part of the body. i wouldn't rule either out and take him to a doctor.
good luck

is it a rash or is it ring worms? I would at least call the doctor's office and talk to the nurse and tell her what you are telling us. It wouldn't cost a thing, and it would ease your mind. If it was something serious..then you would know. They might not be able to tell you anything, but it doesn't hurt to call.

Has he had chicken pox? that's how the spots start, they look like small blisters, get bigger and then dry out, keep an eye out for other spots.
