to be cleansed?

I argue the assumption that:
God is Merciful. (He will not reject good people who believe in Him)
God is Just. (One cannot enter uncleansed into the presence of God)

Fundamentalists: I argue that whatever verse you are about to give me has an interpretation that does not include condemnation, and I insist you use that interpretation, I do.

This is where the Catholic doctrine of purgatory comes in. It's not supposed to be a mini-hell, a place to suffer. Rather a place to be cleansed (purge = purgatory) before you can enter fully into the kingdom.

How can one be forgiven if he has not asked? Those who are faithful will have to be judged by their actions and so I guess you would say be cleansed - but one who does not believe would have no reason to ask forgiveness because they don't believe they need too.
If you die and you see that you were wrong with your beliefs and you find out there really is a God - it is too late for you to ask forgiveness and try to get to Heaven then. Jesus says if you deny me then I will surely deny you to my father.

I personally believe God is very merciful, all you gotta do is ask for his forgiveness and accept Christ as your Savior. After that, you will go to heaven. If you don't do that, unfortunately, you go to hell. This is what the christians I know believe in.

God is a God of LAW. if you live perfectly in the law fine, if not the hell with ya.
Those who have faith in Christ he will wash sin away, if not the hell with ya.

Hell is not punishment. it is not death!
Death is the lake of fire but that will not be for a little more than a 1000 years from now.

I don't understand your question. If you repent in Jesus' name, you will be forgiven, as if never happen. On judgment day that sin will not be against you. But, If you die in the flesh and not repent. Those sins that you didn't repent from will count against you on judgment day. God will do the judging.
No verse here. Just what Jesus says.
