I wish there was some way to actually do a poll, but this is the best I can do.

Please post the number corresponding to what you believe:

1 - Evolution: life came about when proteins came together to form a living organism and all creatures evolved from this - no "greater power" involved

2 - Evolutionary Creationism - that a greater being (god) created life on earth and gave that life the ability to adapt and evolve in order for it to continuously improve

3 - Creationism - All humans come frrom Adam and Eve

4 - None of the above

I pick - 2

I don't believe in any of them. I think that evolution is the most probable, as to who or what started this process, we can only speculate. Protein is made up of amino acids, amino acids are a naturally occuring substance in nature, this is just the way things are. With what I am capable of seeing and understanding now, I think that the idea that God is an oversized white male with a flowing beard who sits in the sky and tallies the fall of every sparrow is ludicrous. But if by 'God' one means the set of physical laws that govern the universe, then clearly there is such a God. This God is emotionally unsatisfying...it does not make much sense to pray to the law of gravity.

1. (although not necessarily exactly that description). But your description in 2 sounds a lot like 1.

among peer reviewed scientific journals, studies and articles, there is no argument. The evidence for evolution is so incredibly overwhelming that it's no longer discussed in the scientific community.

However- we all believe what we want to believe (myself included) and we look for evidence to support our hypothesis.

I suppose that it would be #2, sort of.

I may have chosen #3 but my religion's creation theory doesn't include the Christian Adam and Eve. Only Abrahamic religions have that story.

4 - close to 2, but with some major differences.

I recommend this article: Summary - Hugh Nibley deals with questions related to pre-Adamic life, showing the weaknesses of both the Color fundamentalist-religious and evolutionary-scientific approaches.
