suddenly, i cant play mpeg files on WMP. it ses there is an unknown error and stuff. i don no y plz help

I'm having the same problem. You can check these:
1. quartz.dll
+This is the default file the WMP set as the codec for MPEG-1 files. Reinstalling or downloading the latest DirectX drivers will solve the problem.
2. ANY new software
+Recently installed software might have interfered with WMP. Uninstall the softwares that you feel suspicious.
3. Try Media Player Classic 6.4.9.0
+I was able to play MPEG files again with this program, which is the simple version of WMP. You already have this program in your WMP folder with icon "321", but the version is older. So if the later version works, that means there is a problem with whichever WMP version you have. You will have to completely uninstall and install the WMP.

Mpeg files are pictures, not music. You can not play pictures on WMP. Instead, right-click on the MPG file and select Preview. You will be able to see the pictures that way.

It might be the compresion codec for mpeg is incompatible with the decompresion you currently have.
You'll probably find that you can play some while you can't play other mpeg files.
What you need is a new codec. If you allready have one, try updating it. If not I'll direct you to the one I am using. Just click download.

mpeg files are not pictures, they are video. try to dl codecs for your player. i have used this, and so far it is playing everything i have tried.

i thought that MPEG files are Picture files...
Music files are usually MP3 or WAV files...
but I could be wrong.. who knows..
