My favorites tend to be mutts. They're loyal and have the strengths of more than one breed in them.

Dachhunds and Perro de Agua Espanol. Also known as the spanish water dog. The Dachunds are very loving but nippy and noisy! The Perro De Agua Espanol is loving smart loyal and active. They have curly or corded coats. I am getting one in spring.

just from personal experience, I've always liked pound puppies. Some of the best dogs I've had were not purebred. They've all been unique in their own way. Currently there are 5 living here- and only one purebred, a teacup poodle.

Minature Schnauzer. They are loveable, family dogs, and good companions. They also don't run off or shed much, and live to be ~15 years on average. As small, inexpensive family pets, they can be taken a variety of places too.
