if a person is near sighted, can he/she join the mlitary if they wear glasses? wht if they wear contacts?

Yes, definitely. Just don't expect to be allowed to join the air force, etc. Your rank, placement, and (if it comes to it) field missions will be based on your handicap, as the military sees it. Not that you will be unpacking trucks, but you shouldn't expect anything too up-front.

Yes, you can join the military if you are near-sighted.
You cannot wear contacts during basic combat training. You will get military-issue, plastic-framed eye-glasses issued to you.

It has to be correctable to 20/20. There are some fields where vision has to be uncorrected 20/20 but they are few and far between. Check with your local recruiter for the details.

Yes most certainly. There are some branches in armed forces basically in support roles where medical standards are less stringent provided of course all other conditions are satisfied. So do not despair! There is always hope.

as long as the vision problem is correctable with glasses or contacts it is no problem.
