Man!!!I was reading some of your responses and man!!! If you charged 5 an hour, for lets say 10 hours a day, that would be $50...A DAY!!! Meaning it would be $250 a week! That is a lot of money! The daycares around where I live only charge $130 a week for infants and $100 for toddlers. When I babysat, I charged a set price per day and had an agreement with the parents not to take advantage of me as far as how long they left their kids with me. Work only, unless otherwise agreed upon. I set my preices lower than the daycares so I would get the business and not the daycare. Plus....factor in what it is worth to you (your time) and what is reasonable to you if it were you paying for childcare!

I drive myself, so I charge $9 per hour, which is cheap. My friend charges $9 just for the daytime, her night rates are $10-12. Generally, I get $8-10 for 2 kids

if you are hiring a teen to babysit a reasonable amount would be 5-7 dollars per hour depending on if they do a good job or not. if an older person is taking care of the child i would pay up to $10 an hour.

It really depends on where you live. Some states have higher rates. It also depends on if you are licensed. If you are licensed you charge more. If you are not then around here, the going rate is approx. 20 dollars a day (work day).
