She's getting fat but I didn't think she could go into heat again yet & she's my only dog. She's active but getting fat. I AM taking her to my vet this week. Just curious if a stray could have gotten over the fence & knocked her up w/out me noticing her going in heat?

If she got pregnant in March & had pups in May she shouldn't have gone into heat yet. But breeds do vary. When you go to the vet they can tell. I hope she isn't & you can get her spayed. If not is the sire of the same breed?

Getting fat is no way connected with a dog's fertility in most cases. A stray fellow can jump over the fence in two conditions-
1. when your dog is in heat
2. When the fence is too low to jump.

I think your dog might come toheat only in late october or early Nov. Most female dogs "go into heat" (estrus) about every 6 or 7 months . It is best to allow the ***** to reach full growth before breeding her.

By general rule, a female has two heats a year, but in practice, is very variable. Some people think that dwarf breeds have shorter intervals between periods, but it is not necessarily true. For instance, German Shepherds have relatively short intervals between periods, sometimes only five months, while others like the Dachshund have intervals of eight months.

A dog's cycle can vary widely espeically after having a littler of pups.... she definatley could have gone into a slient heat at anytime and gotten pregnant again.

There are lots of dogs who cycle about every four months, sometimes more, and there are also other dogs who only cycle once a year.

Good luck at the vet. I hope she's not pregnant again as that isn't very good for her body to have back to back pregnancies. Please get her spayed as soon as you can.

IF she had pups in March that would mean she was in heat in Jan. so if she has a 6 month cycle she would have been due in heat again in July. Possible.
If you haven't noticed her in heat & think she may be preggers again this beggs the question- don't you want to spay her . so you don't have litters of pups to worry over every 6 months?

My parents raised and bred some cairn terriers (toto dog) and their heat happened about twice a year. This might be gross, but if she's bleeding- then yes it's heat.

Possibly . That happened to my cousins dog when she was hooked out front. They had the litter terminated but then they had her spayed. If she is pregnat et her have them. My cousins mom felt bad after having the puppies terminated.
