My mother wasn't into changing the linens after a guest (relative or friend) has slept in them. On the other hand my wife calls those dirty linens and insists on stripping them and throwing them in the laundry machine. What do you think?

You change them. I always try to think about how I would feel. I wouldn't want to sleep on unwashed linens, therefore I would never let a guest in my home sleep on unwashed linens.

I strip the bed after the guest leaves. I don't care if they didn't even turn the bed down, and ended up sleeping on top of the comforter...I still strip the bed and wash the sheets.

When I'm not using the guest bed, I don't keep it made with linens. If we go long periods with no overnight guests, the linens (even though they were put on the bed clean) can get a funny smell to them...and they become dusty, too.

haha...this is a funny question...my mother never taught me anything about cleaning, cooking, finances...I honestly don't know what she was doing with me for the first 23 years of my life...anyway, I, fortunately have finally been able to learn about these things and it is absolutely proper to take the linens off, after the guest leaves the home and wash them. Taking it a step further is to iron them after you wash them but that would only be if the guest staying with you isn't family or very close friends. Hope this helps! God Bless.

I always change linens after a guest leaves. I also spray the mattress with Lysol. Some people think I'm too compulsive.

I think it's a good idea. When you think of dead skin, and mites, and germs, and foreign things people carry on their bodies, it's always better to be safe and wash. That way you protect yourself and your guests from being exposed to things which may be harmful to them. But it's in the way it's done. I suggest not to broadcast that you just absolutely MUST change the linens!!! Be discrete as to not make your guests feel scorned and dirty.

God Bless you

I cannot believe this is even a question - YES YOU WASH SHEETS AFTER A GUEST SLEEPS IN THEM!!!!!!

I'm not a germ-a-phobe, but let's be honest: there are many things that can happen to sheets when a person sleeps on them...use your imagination. Semen, ringworm, lice...those are just a few things I wouldn't want a past guest to share with me. Bodies deposit lots of grime onto sheets.

I wash my sheets at home every five-seven days in hot water.

It's just common courtesy to try and provide a clean environment for guests...the same you'd expect if you were a guest!

Strip the bed and wash them. Someone slept on them. Would you go to a hotel and sleep on the bed if you knew that the linens had not been changed and washed from the previous tenant?

It is unsanitary not to.

I always give my guests clean linens to sleep on. It just seems like a common courtesy. They smell fresh, their crisp and just plain clean. Would you like to crawl into a bed with the thoughts of someone elses body soil on those sheets? I know that even hotels clean their sheets after each guest. They dont clean the comforters after each guest unless there are obvious soil stains on them. I got that info from a Dateline show.

I change my linens everytime someone new sleeps on them and leaves. It could be 1 nite. But I also change my own bedsheets once a week.

I also use a new set of bath towels every day. I'm sure that I waste a lot of water but that's how I was raised.

Those are dirty linens and I'd change them. I wouldn't want to sleep in some stranger's dirty sheets.
