Sorry for bringing such a sad thing back but I was searching on the internet for material on the collapse of the twin towers. Could people please answer these two question (tell me what you think - you need not be structure experts to answer):
(1) if the towers had NOT collapsed and the fires had been overcome do you think both towers could be repaired or do you think that they were beyond repair and would have to be brought down anyway ? Secondly...
(2) if the towers had NOT collapsed and the fires had been overcome by the firefighters, how do you think those 3,000+ could be brought down, rescued, brought safely to ground level ? By helicopter ? All 3000 of them ? Many of them with bad burn injuries ? I have not seen anything written on how those two could be tackled. I thank you in advance for your answers. (the questions have nothing todo with conspiracy theories or anything silly like that. I am genuinely curious. Thanks. I don't even know what section I should upload it to.

Nothing has upset me more in my life than to see those poor people is such distress. Enough to make a real man cry and I am a real man ! God bless them all !!! I hope they are all in Heaven... while we remain down here and continue to kill each other... as if we are scoring points the more suffering we inflict on each other. Ido not thin we have evolved much since the times of the Inquisition and torture. Disgraceful !!!

"fire_axe" - Thank you Captain for a wonderful and EXPERT reply. Never thought of this..."Helicopters could have been brought in BUT THAT'S DIFFICULT BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE PANICKING!" -- If the towers had not collapsed what other different horrors would we have witnessed ?! Helicopters being brought down on the roof because too many people in panic overwhelming numbers of peolpe grabbing at the helicopters ? Does not bear thiking about it !! Herein London the next morning it was EERIE. Normally rush hour, no one on the road, no cars, no people. Everyone stayed at home. It was DEATH silence !!! Thank you very much for your answer. At least you gave me a reply from an EXPERT. I guess the next question should be HOW would they bring those towers down ? Controlled explosion ?

Absolutely not. the planes themselves caused so much structural damage, and then the explosion and jet fuel burning burned with such intensity. It weakened everything!

Remember a lot of interviews said that people continued to work not knowing what really happened. The firefighters still had to go up. Helicopters could have been brought in but that's difficult because people are panicking. Helicopters can only hold small groups too. Remember the people were above the fire floor had no other escape other than the roof. People below had to walk the stairs down.

It is my opinion that the towers would have been beyond repair - at least to a certain level.

The people who were caught at the top would have likely been rescute by helicopter - if the roof didn't cave in.

Good question and food for thought.
