I too wonder why all theses accommodation's/concession's
are being made for Mexicans and not for other nationalities that immigrate here legally. When my ancestors came here from Germany they had to learn English, they had to learn the ways of their host country.
They adapted to this country ,this country didn't adapt to them.I don't know why this country is bending over backward for one nationality..Its just wrong to have to be bilingual (speak Spanish not any other ) to get a job in a country where English is the national language. No other country in the world does that.
I am learning Japanese for my own self and an upcoming trip there next year,I don't expect all the people in Japan to speak English ,although a lot in the city's do,as I will be traveling into the small farming villages, where English is not spoken as much.
I will adapt to their customs and cultural while I am there and not expect the opposite.
I hate no one but I do hate my country being turned into
Mexico by the liberal thinkers and sympathizers,I am a Democrat but not liberal on this subject.
And I will vote accordingly.
What the hell is an unauthorized immigrant,a politically correct way of getting around their illegal status, get real.

None of the other cultures did (Italian, French, German, etc.) That's why I don't understand the language aspect.
As for people saying that America doesn't have a language. Well then it needs one. You can't have 17 different languages going on in a country. Nothing would ever get done. English is the pre-dominant one so it should stay that way imo.

I agree. I love being able to celebrate with all cultures, but I don't want to give up my traditions or language (not that I don't mind learning a new tradition or language). I enjoy learning about other cultures and do believe they enhance our nation. If someone wants acceptance it should be a compromise. That's how you establish a good relationship, you give and take, not expect everyone to swallow everything about you just "because". By bullying local communities, staging protest and saying we need a certain group just makes everyone else want to push back by showing them we don't need a group of complaining people who refuse to follow the laws of our nation. I have friends who have LEGALLY obtained the right to live and work here, who agree 100% that all immigrants should have to go through the system to get citizenship.

For the language thing, let them speak another language! When you travel, I bet you speak english dont you? Just deal, spanish IS our second language. Why you should have a problem with that, I dont know. English is and always will be the first language, so no need to worry about the spics taking over. (*sarcasm*) And anyway, what culture are you referring to? In my mind, the United States (not America, thats not the name of our country) does not have its own country, instead its made up of many different cultures. White and English speaking people aren't the only people who belong in this country, its open for everyone. Its a freaking piece of land for godsake, get over it!

You are 100% right with your examples of the reasons why Americans hate what's going on vs hating Mexicans. I believe that the government from the local, state and federal levels are more concerned with losing the vote vs doing the RIGHT thing.
They (politicians) who are in heavily Spanish areas where the legal immigrants are , will not do anything to attempt to resolve the millions of illegals that are already here, which is costing the taxpayer ALOT of money because they will LOSE the vote and they will no longer be in power. Too many people say it is racist not to allow them to stay here but that is a very poor excuse. Do they realize what it is costing us with our money that we work for. I don't believe anyone should get a free ride and I resent the fact that they are working, making money and get everything for free from housing to healthcare to schooling of their children. I have to pay back into the system, why should they be excluded? Because they want a better life and work hard? Well, I want a better life and I work hard for my money too...but that doesn't excuse me from the laws of this country and I think it's reached a point where people who are legal Americans have had enough. Unless they are the ones who's pocketbook it doesn't affect and they have no clue of the cost to care for these millions of Illegal Immigrants. And if someone can explain to my "why" they should be permitted to stay here illegally and have us pay for them, I will gladly listen. And I don't want to hear that they only have the dirty jobs no one else will do...that's changed. I have seen firsthand that they are doing roofing, paving, concrete work, basic construction etc..So I am tired of hearing that reason. In another 5 years when the population of millions of illegals who are here double and it's costing the taxpayer more and more...Then What?

Immigrants that come to America come in search of greater opportunities just like the pilgrims came after leaving Great Britian. Unauthorize immigrants still have to pay sale taxes when purchasing items and have agreed to pay taxes just like any other American. America does not need to give up its culture simply because the immigrant population continues to grow. I wonder what if one hundred years from now the population of spanish speaking people outpopulate those who speak english, would the default language in america have to change to spanish. You know, before Columbus, English wasn't the dominant language in America, just ask the natives.

well you better go look at a lot of posts because for some that simply isn't true. You do have quite a few people saying that they hate Mexicans. And then using derogatory remarks. I realize there are some terrorist coming into the states through the borders. But that is why the border Patrol needs more training and better equipment.

1. people come here illegally for obvious reasons. there aren't legal channels for poor people to come here to work.
2. there are a few bad eggs in every basket. just because a small number of people burn an american flag during a protest for dramatic effect doesn't mean that reflects how illegal immigrants behave or feel.
3. i'm not sure where people are getting this "getting benefits that americans cannot get" stuff. if you were as poor as a migrant worker, you would get the same benefits that they get. worth the trade off? you have as much right to a free or cheap clinic as illegal immigrants. you have as much right to walk into an emergency room, and if you're impoverished you can avoid the bill.
here's a quote from washington post that provides just a sample of the research being done on this topic:
"Reliable numbers are hard to find, but researchers generally agree that 50 to 60 percent of illegal immigrants nationwide work for employers who withhold income taxes and Social Security and Medicare payments from their paychecks. The authors of the Urban Institute study assumed 55 percent do. To get jobs, many of those immigrants use false Social Security numbers. That means they pay into the Social Security system for benefits they will never receive and pay income taxes without ever filing a return to determine whether they have overpaid."
some illegal immigrants don't pay taxes at all and don't have a social security number (about 45 % by these numbers). if they do not have a social security number, they are not entitled to welfare. illegal immigrants are not eligible for medicaid or social security.
it is fair to say that illegal immigrants, over all, cost more than they pay into the system. that could also be said of most low wage earners in this country who pay low taxes or work under the table to avoid paying taxes. it is not fair to say that they're entitled to benefits which american citizens are not entitled to.
4. no one is trying to make spanish our language, and such exaggerations don't make your point stronger. acknowledging that a large number of people in certain parts of the country speak spanish (or chinese) is realistic. if we want to assimilate people it helps to provide government documents in their language so that they can participate as full citizens as soon as they arrive. it would be best if they worked on learning english, but for the most part illegal immigrants are forced to live in enclaves and apart from english speaking communities for fear of deportation.
no one is asking you to give up your language. in fact, no one is asking you to learn spanish or any language other than english, even though it is common throughout the world for people to speak more than one language without complaining about it.
you fear changes to your culture, but this country is an ever-evolving culture shaped by the people who come here. it's normal to feel uncomfortable with change and with people who are different from you, but getting along with and shaping a culture with people who are different from you is how this country has always worked.

Heres a solution.. open the borders.. That's right! Then the economy will become so wishy-washy that the companies will no longer be able to have their factories move down to Mexico. All the Mexicans will be in America, so the companies will have to move back their factories to the states and pay fair wages!
The answer was right in front of us the whole time!
