Generally speaking, protein in the morning will help keep you going--it balances out your blood sugar and provides a steady supply of energy.
You'll find that the quick buzz you get from coffee or a sugary breakfast wears out quickly and you get sleepy--that's your blood sugar level surging, then dropping through the floor.
If you find that protein isn't enough, try combining portion sizes and eating some protein and some carbs. A bagel, for example, can be a good source of grain protein and supplies some complex carbohydrates for more immediate energy. I have found that a glass of milk helps me--the lactose is a form of sugar energy and combined with the protein I can most mornings through lunch with only a bowl of cereal and milk.

Hi there!
Oatmeal is a really good source of complex carbahydrates that avoid the sugar crash. Not to mention, it is high in protein and low in fat. I have been eating for years and my NRG levels are always pretty high in the morning. Give it a shot.
I believe this answers your question, but if not let me know.
Good luck with your diet and fitness goals!

Protein. In a shake with yogurt and fresh fruit and juice, ice then blend. Eggs. Oatmeal. Steak. Just stay away from sugary, carb laden foods. They will give you a peak of energy and just when you need your energy, you will be crashing. A mix of low carb, high protein will give you nutrients you need and keep your blood sugar level even so you won't be starving before lunch. Good luck.

Bacon, eggs and toast. It's what my grandpa eats 4-5 times a week, and he is still going strong at almost 90 years old!
