To me, convenience food is anything that is convenient to prepare. Frozen dinners or pizza and anything microwavable. And then there is of course the no-prep method of take-out or eating out.

Those 25 cent instant noodle cups. You just use like a coffee mug or someting to heat up water in the microwave til just before it boils so for me thats like 1 minute. then you just pour the water into one of the noodle cups and wait like 3 minutes then your noodles are done. Easy and cheap.
Other convenience foods? Candy, fruits, microwave dinners, rice, hotdogs, spam (i dont eat that though), veggies,
Convenience food is simply food that is convenient like when you are on the go, or just dont feel like cooking. Maybe you are busy with your kids or you are working on a project around the house. Its something you can just grab and be like "HEAR KIDS EAT ALREADY AND LEAVE ME THE #*$%$# ALONE!!!!!" lol jp. Or for me I have blood sugar issues so I need to have things on hand that I can fix really quick and really easy. Also rice cakes. Healthy and quick. (just pull em out the bag, I sometimes spread a thin layer of peanut butter on one) Yogurt is also convenience food. As well as that salmon that comes in the pouches (you dont have to mix it with anything like you do with tuna). You just get two pieces of bread and tear open the pouch and let the salmon come out onto your sandwich.
Boom there you go.

Convenience foods are the already prepared foods you can buy from the grocers such as roasted chickens, deli sandwiches and salads. Any thing you can take and eat with minimal to no preperation.
