You don't have a right to do that. The best things you could do:

1. you could start putting food out for it. It will start hanging out around your house. It is a little underhanded though, but needed if the cat appears to be suffering from malnutrition.

or

2. You could ask the person if you can have the cat.

Its not clear from your question whether its you who wants to take a cat from someone else, or someone else is trying to take your cat.

Either which way, speak to this person in a calm way and sort out the status of the cat once and for all. If its you who wants to take this cat to give it a better life, then just maybe this person would be glad to see it rehomed if they genuinely don't like cats.

But cats have a way of leading a double life. The cat may be perfectly happy in its own home, but can turn up a few doors away and do the "poor me" act, get fed and make the people wonder if the poor cat is being well looked after in its own home.

So tread carefully, speak to the person you need to speak to and sort it out. All may not be as you think.

Nope.
Get your cat "chipped" and registered by your local veterinarian, and always have the cat wear a collar with your name and phone number on it. Photograph the cat to document that you own it, and that it had the identifying collar.

Photograph the trap.
If your cat goes missing, you can take that person to small claims court. You'll probably get only the replacement cost for the cat, but it might discourage the scumbag from trapping cats.

No, if the animal is in your yard and going to the toilet in your yard you are aloud to go to the council and request a cat trap. If you get a trap from the council if you catch a cat you have to call the council to remove it ( alive and unharmed) you are not aloud to take it to the council. You are also not aloud to put any food in the trap. Its also illegal to kill animals because you dont like em. Did you know that more dogs kill wildlife per year then cats! you just dont find the left overs from a dog they eat the whole thing.

No they can't, if your talking about a neighbor or friend...or stranger absolutely not. If your living with your parents it might be a different story. But no one has a right to take a pet away from you, so go get your cat if someone has done this and tell them to go take a hike.

No you can't. Here where I live there is a law that all pets dogs and cats must have a collar on them showing owner and vet name. Check that out where you live and if the owner doesn't have this on cat you can call the pound on them. I own a cat and I keep mine indoors so other people don't have to put up with her in their yards.

Actually, yes they can

If there is a trap set up on THEIR property and your cat goes into it, they can trap it.

That being said, Only a complete ******** would trap the cat and notreturn it to the owner.

And they may be liable if they do not tell the owner. If they know who the cat belongs to they may be required to return it.
