back in the old days (when i was a kid) to encourage recycling, people turned in their empty soda bottles for money. it was actually my first business venture (at age 6). these days, we do it not for the "redemption value" of the bottles, but to help the environment. california continues to have the redemption value on their bottles because they want people to recycle! so, the answer to your question is : california cash redemption value is how much the bottle would be worth if your turned it in to a participating retailer. you would receive X for each bottle.
get your wagon out and go collecting!

California redemption value means that the state charges you an extra 4 cents (8 cents for bigger bottles) when you purchase a beverage in plastic, aluminum or glass. When the item is empty you bring it to a recylcing center and get your money back. It's to promote recycling.
P.S. I live in California.

It should have a value amount next to it. That should be the value (cash amount) it's worth in California if you redeem them or recycle them.
