Yesterday my six year old niece asked me where babies come from and I told her that they come from God and that he sends them to us from heaven. She still didn't understand the concept of how a baby is first a baby then turns into an adult... what should I or her parents tell her?

Children are so innocent, please let her stay that way...I told my son that God and Jesus sends them to the Baby store,...then took him to the hospital to see all the babies in their little beds. Then I told him we bought him...so, when he was at the store a few weeks later, he told two little old ladies that 'his mom bought him from the baby store...and paid about 10,000 for him LOL don't know where he got that sum, but he learned the truth soon enough but still loves that story...it is sweet how kids will accept that info..and maintain their innocence Good luck and I liked your answer also

Well, this one is really up to her parents to answer, as they will likely not approve of you taking the initiative.

I advocate for them that they not make up any silly deceptions (i.e. the stork, the cabbage patch, etc.) and tell the child the truth. Of course, make it age appropriate in that the graphic details can be related at the level that she can understand and appreciate.

However, I think if a child's curiosity about this natural and wondrous process is strong enough to keep asking then the parent should keep answering. If this means disclosing all details in order to answer all questions, then do it.

There are some good children's books (illustrated) that give the whole low down on procreation. We read two different ones to our kids when they were young.

Here's a sample suggestion for fielding such questions:
Q- Where do babies come from?
A- They come from inside their Mommy's tummy.

Q- How do they get in there?
A- When a Mommy and Daddy get together in a loving way, the Daddy sometimes puts a seed inside the Mommy, and that seed fertilizes a tiny egg inside the Mommy. Then the egg grows into a baby.

Q- How does the Daddy get the seed inside the Mommy?
A- Sometimes Mommies and Daddies will lie together with their clothes off. The Daddy's penis (use the word you want to use with your children, but I recommend the real words here) will stand up and then he puts it inside the Mommy's vagina.

Q- Does it hurt?
A- When Mommies and Daddies love each other they enjoy doing this very much.

Q- Will I be a Mommy (or Daddy)?
A- Maybe one day when you're all grown up.

My mom explained that a special seed is planted in the mom that grows into a baby and comes out at the right time. She doesn't need anything more specific than this for now, you can expand the details later.

Ask her mum/dad if they would like U 2 tell/explain all about the birds & the bees, first.
Coming from some1 they know & trust has gotta B better than putting it off until later or making as hash of it coz they mayb 2 embarrassed.

Tell her the truth. Except make it fit for a six year old. Telling her God makes them isn't correct, so I think it's better just to tell her the truth.

Tell her the truth. Keep it basic...that Daddy puts the seed into the mommy's tummy, and it grows into a baby. I feel very strongly about telling kids the truth (as true as their ages allow)

let her watch a baby story on tlc.... thats what I did for my 4 year old. Let her parents handle it though. I watched with her and we talked about it. It wasnt too graphic, and i didnt have to go into the entire birds and bees speech... and hopefully I won't for a while! Good luck!

Use or show her a Caterpillar. Think of how the Caterpillar changes from a chrysalis into the beautiful butterfly. I promise she'll understand. Use images. Good luck!

I told my daughter that when a mommy and daddy love each other God puts a baby in the mommys belly so they can share their love with it.

if you were her parents, I'd tell you to tell her the truth- at a level she can understand. Since you're not, I would tell her parents what she's been asking, and leave it up to them. They may have strong feelings about this.
