Has anyone seen that commercial for the new toothpaste for children where it shows where the plaque is (by turing it blue) on your childs teeth so that they brush them better to make the blueness go away?? Do you think that is a good idea for kids??

They have a product just like that at my child's dentist. I can't see the harm in teaching a child good oral care from a young age. It teaches the child something and it is fun at the same time. What child wouldn't want their teeth blue for a bit?
Don't forget a adult should be with a child while they are brushing their teeth to ensure a good job. My dentist says that when a child is old enough to bathe themselves properly in the shower without any help is when they can brush their teeth on their own. Don't forget about flossing too.

It isn't toothpaste. it is a mouth wash. It is buy Listerine and it is called Agent Blue. I think that is a great idea. Making brushing more interesting for kids by seeing blue in there mouth. That will give them better brushing habits which are needed. They also have tablets which you chewed on and that would show you where tarter was. if you do buy it make sure that you supervise your child's use of that. It isn't ment to be swallowed

it's actually a mouth rinse. i saw it at walmart. my oldest is 5 and i'm thinking of getting it for him. i remember when i was in elementary school and twice a year a dentist would come by the class to talk about brushing and flossing. we would be given a 'goody' bag with toothpaste and such. we would also get these little chewable tablets that sort of look like childrens chewable pain killers that when chewed up would stick to the plaque on your teeth. it's the same idea with the mouthwash. it helps kids to see where they need to brush.

It not a toothpaste its a mouth wash they use before brushing. It helps the kids brush better and long. Most of them enjoy it.

That's a great idea but if they forget to brush there, they'll have bits of blue stuck there for the rest of the day! But seriously, I think its good for kids and adults!

its not actually a toothpaste its a mouth wash. I think its a great idea because kids know how long to brush without you standing over them.

I think it's a good idea, it will probably help the child get excited about brushing their teeth.

it's actually a new listerine product; i can't remember the name, but it's a new mouthwash, not toothpaste. i think it's a good idea for anyone of any age (encourages good brushing habits). however, if you're wondering if it's safe, you should ask your dentist or pharmacist.

Gimmick. I bet this is more expensive than the usual stuff as well. Just teaching your child to brush their teeth properly should be enough, especially if you supervise them until they are old enough to do it themselves.

I think it's a mouth rinse -- maybe called something like Agent Blue (if I'm recalling correctly). Yeh, sure, it sounds like it's fine for children.
