I always thought all of them were right but I keep hearing other people saying their religion is the only one that's right.

I believe that all religions contain fractions of the truth. As mere humans it is difficult to discover which of them are correct and which aren't. You can only decide this through personal research, comtemplation, and meditation.

I believe they are all compatible if we all willing to give and take a little bit. The biggest disagreement is from fundamentalist Christians who believe that theirs is the one and only true religion. I don't believe that's true.

I believe that all religions follow the same God. Here is a quote by Voltaire:

God created man in his/her image, then man returned the favor.

I believe that religion is man-made and thus so are our concepts and images that we have made of God/dess. We can only make our best guess (decision) through study and research. However, we all are worshipping the same God who is the Divine Creator of all things. A God who encompasses the qualities of both genders (as we are all -- men and women) created in his/her image.

But, that's just me! A lot of people (Christians, mostly, I'm sure) will disagree that they aren't all compatible because theirs is the only true religion. The only person who can decide for sure what YOU believe is YOU!

So, research, study, question, meditate -- find your own path! Don't follow a path just because someone else does. Everyone is unique and therefore has unique spiritual paths and beliefs. That's okay.

Blessings and Light!

Most religions are a "story" about life and the universe.

Look at this "story"

There was a dog that had just stolen a big steak from a butcher. He was walking by a bridge and looked down at the water and saw a dog with a bigger steak, he wanted it, so he started barking at the dog - at which point he dropped his steak in the water!

That is a "story." It teaches people things, such as don't steal or you'll end up throwing it all in the water, or dont' be greedy, or whatever the heck you it to mean.

Now fast forward not only 2000 years later, but it was a DIFFERENT countries' and languages' teaching - and you know how well other countries' methods and standards translate to ours. They don't.

Yet, someone takes this "God" thing very seriously. They really literally believe what the book says. Don't matter it's a different time period, different world all together. If the book says putting piercings on the body, right next to were it says cursing is bad, and that women can never go into church - well dog gonnit it must be true!

Except the parts we don't like. Those are all "old" and outdated.

-_-

Actually there is another choice! There is One Path which includes all the religions as parts. No one religon by itself has all the truth. Each holds a part of God's Plan called: Eternal Divine Path.

As far as compatible - yes. God Unifies. It is the dogmas created by man which divide and create seperatism. We are all human and are born in this world for a great purpose, especially now.

Nearly every religion teaches something different from the others. Muslims don't teach what Jews do, Baptists don't teach what Catholics do, and so on.

(The only ones I know of that could possibly be considered 'compatible' are Hiduism and Bahai, which both teach that God taught different people different things in different places - kind of like "Yes, they're completely different religions, but both of them are right.")

How could they all be right? That's the First Amendment misapplied (God isn't bound by our Constitution), sprinkled heavily with "I don't feel like studying to find out why I believe as I do." Garnish with postmodernism (which teaches that we just can't know anything for sure), and serve.

Sometimes people try, "I'm right, and everybody else is close enough..."

If Islam is right, then, logically, everything else is wrong.
If Judaism is right, then, logically, everything else is wrong.
If Christianity is right, then, logically, everything else is wrong.
If Catholicism is right, then, logically, everything else is wrong.
If the Methodist church is right, then, logically, everything else is wrong.
No attempt to be 'politically correct' will change logic.

There can be only one true religion. Christ said so himself. He set up the church when he was on the earth with apostles and prophets (He was the head). If all are saying they are the only one right, and their doctrines so different, how could they be true. A divided house will fall. The dark ages came about because the true and unchanged gospel of Jesus Christ was not found on the earth. The Lord has again established His church here on the earth again through a living prophet. I don't think there is one true religion, I believe there is truth in all religions and actually all believe in one and the same God, some don't believe in Jesus or rather think that he was just a prophet. What's important is Christianity, i.e. being a christian and though that means followers of Christ, I would bring it under followers of God. It's really up to you to find which is closest to you and which you agree with most, without closing the doors on the others.

this is a really sticky topic, because our 'I'm ok, you're ok' culture wants us to solve conflicts by believing that everyone is right, and that all choices are equally good. but that's not how life works.
there is and can be only one true religion. God isn't a God of chaos or confusion, and He doesn't just say 'oh, whatever'. our job, as humans, is to actively seek out His will and follow it, which includes finding which religion He wants us to follow.
research different religions, pray to God to help you to find the one that's His church. don't just blindly follow anyone, it's your salvation on the line.

Yes, there is only one true religion. However, the problem is that different religions are incompatable with one another. So, conflict arises when different groups try to decide which religion is the one true religion.

Funny how the cults always bust in and say "it's us, it's us". The church isn't a religion but a faith. All who put their trust in Jesus and claim salvation thru Him are members of The Church. If anyone preaches an other gospel other than the one we have been taught from the Bible, they have no truth in them...Jim

There are those that are still waiting on the Messiah. These are the ones that are going to be fooled. They are going to see the anti-christ, know the mystery of 666. Christianity needs to remember the Bible and start tossing by-laws and platforms made by theologians.
