Well there's something for the cat that works called frontline. It's a medicine you put down her spine and it kills fleas wonderfully! I put it on my dog and he was flea free within a few hours. The kittens are another story. You can't use frontline on them until they are about three months. There is something you can do, however. Get some Dawn soap, and put a ring of it around their neck. Then hold then in the water, up to their neck, until the fleas float off. It will take quite a while, but if they don't float off THEY ARE NOT DEAD. When you do this, be careful of the kittie's ears, they aren't supposed to be wet. If they do get wet, don't panic, they'll dry, but don't hold they heads or ears underwater. Don't rinse off the Dawn soap. It keeps fleas away with the chemicals in it. So they shouldn't crawl up to the head, but if there are a few fleas on its face, get them later. At least the majority of the fleas of dead. Once there is a good amount of fleas floating, rinse the soap off and dry the fuzzy critter with a towel. Wet kitties are sooooo cute! But make sure to keep them warm! They'll shiver no matter what, but do your best.

Ask your vet, but I'm pretty sure the Frontline Plus will work great. I use it on my 3 cats.
The flea bites will kill the kittens if not stopped.
She took off from the house because she needed some space. To stop this from happening again make a space for Momma where the kittens can't get to. My momma cat took naps in my bed and the kittens are 4 years old now and she still cries to nap in my room.
If your vet says they will do the Frontline on the kittens there is no need to take them for an office visit. I buy mine on Amazon for the best price. Ebay has good deals but most are Australian or other countries and I'm not comfy with that.

Flea chemicals can't be used on kittens under 8 weeks, so plan on just keeping them taken care of as best you can until the. Advantage is the best for young cats (IMHO).
Check with a vet, but I've heard that you can buy the LARGE Dog size of Advantage and divide it up in small doses to cover many cats. Much more econimical.

well this isnt something that you can jsut solve very quickly, u should have been treating the fleas a while ago at the mother, and yes...they were their a while ago...my cat gave birth to four as well...try getting a flea medication from your vet...or maybe even taking the cat and kittens to the vet...since their new born i suggest it anyway, jsut to see if their ok or not. Hope this worx out! Good luck!

A natural and safer method to getting rid of fleas is a solution breeders use. Listerine mouth wash mixed with water. I use it on my dog. I mix it half and half put it in a spray bottle and spray him down he has never had fleas. Do not rinse! I would say maybe on a warm day you could do it outside or in a tub and rinse them down the drain. I would wait until they are at the very least 2 weeks old. I would also make sure you dry them afterward and keep them warm.

Frontline is very good for helping with fleas - the only drawback is that it's somewhat expensive, and the kittens may not be old enough yet to have it applied to them.
Alternatively, you can also get a flea comb, and comb the cats, but it can be quite tedious and take a while.
Your veterinarian may have some other suggestions - and please go get MomCat spayed! :)

It can take awhile to get through the entire life cycle of a flea. Bathe and powder the cats, bomb the house and vacuum (throw the bag away right away), and wash all bedding, pillows, throw rugs, and animal bedding in hot water. You may even have to do this a couple of times.

Could you wash the mother and kits in a shampoo that kills fleas? Is there a spray that is safe for the kittens? I would ask the vet.

You need to deflea where the cat and kittens sleep. If they have a blanket - wash it - then spray it. There's no point in trying to deflea the animals if they're sleeping in a pile of fleas.
And if you have fleas all over your house, you're going to have to call an exterminator.
Fleas can cause tapeworm and other diseases.

If you treat the Mom cat with frontline or advantage, it will control fleas on the kittens as well. Please consider having them spayed, if you contact your SPCA, some will do it for a donation of a few dollars.
