Actually the taste is very mild, In Cuba they eat a dish called Tasajo and its made with horse. its first salt cured then rehydrated in boiling water, shredded and sauteed.

accidentally. when i was young. i was in canada with my grandfather visiting his relatives, he thought it was hilarious when he told me what it was, after we ate it. It was very similar to beef but tougher. could have just been their cooking method.
not planning to try it again.
