Some great western scholars/mystics/philosophers/spiritualists assert that the perrenial, primordial spiritual Truths are at the Zenith in Islam only. Some names of writers who lived in our age are:Frithjof Schuon,Rene Guenon,Titus Burchhardt, Martin Lings. There are tens of others.Pl. ask your librarian to help you find scores of books on Spiritualism:Islam/Sufism. In Islam, there are reported to be Sufis who are in direct beatification by mylord Jesus. This good question should lead us to study more on the subject. In fact, spirituality is to be practiced than read about.

I agree absolutely on this one. Islam has discouraged seekers from its own religion to grow in spirituality, because of their believes. In India when Muslims ruled, there was a muslim seeker in Delhi called " Al Hillaj Mansoor". When he was a seeker, he experienced god, and started to say "An Al Haq" , it means "I am the god".
OK so what? It was not such a horrible crime to declare oneself to be someone. But Mansoor was given the sentense "To be stoned to death".
