When I was younger. There was a lot of rules I didn't like or thought were stupid. Take your shoes off at the door, eat everything on your plate, be home by 9:00 pm, change your outfit.etc
Then I had kids. What goes around comes around. Things came full circle and the first time I addressed one of my children by their full name. I said OMG I have become my Mother.
The kids used to give me a hard time if I walked through the house with my shoes on. They'd remind me I always tell them to take theirs off. It's because I swept and mopped the floor. I knew how dirty my shoes were. And it was my choice if I messed up the floor.
Raising kids I was on a small budget. Wasting food was like throwing money ot. Having them in at nine. I explained. I work and need my sleep. If my children were not in the house or where I knew they were. I couldn't sleep. and when they did get home it took them an hour and a half to settle down. Hence I still couldn't sleep.
When your children and Husband leaves the house, or when company comes into your house.People don't look at your kids or your man and think he's a lousy father. It's like the responsibility of how your family looks reflects on the woman of the house.
I was always pretty lax about rules. There are some parents that are stictlers and over bearing. If you can address one of their rules, look at it from all angles. and see if it is something you would do if you were a parent. Trust me I always said when I had kids I wouldn't do this or that. Guess what I parented almost the exact same way. Spell check is on the frizzt so bare with me.

Don't put the large dishes in the dishwasher...wash they by hand
Wipe out the sink after doing the dishes
Fold the towels in sections of three (not in half repeatedly)
The house has to look like we don't actually live there
Cut the lawn every week, we don't want the neighbors to think bad things about us
I like my car cleaned a certain way
The shower curtain in the kids bathroom must be pulled closed
Should I go on?

yeah, alot and I can't stand them
I'm not allowed to wear thongs, and my underwear can only be white (my mom is very conservative and feels diff color underwear is trashy)
I have a 9pm curfew during the week
We have to wash our face and brush our teeth every night
We have to take off our shoes when we walk in
The computer is in the family room, in full view of everyone (my parents want to see what sites we go to)

Yeah, the unwritten rule that says anytime my daughter leaves something on the floor I WILL trip over it, or step on it, and hurt myself.... I really don't like that one. ;)
