It had $242 in cash in it. It also has his Driver's License and other personal info in it.

Should I just take the cash out and then mail him the rest, so he can have his personal info back?

What About if I just take $100 bucks? Hell, he should be glad he's getting his personal stuff back.

I'm not rich either, I could use the money.

And what if the guy is an azzhole and doesn't even give me a reward?

I would just take the cash out and return the wallet. He is not really expecting someone to return the cash with the way the world is today. Just drop the whole wallet in the mailbox and let the U.S. Postal Service do their thing!

Please send the wallet back with everything it had in it. I thought I lost my purse just last week and had $300 in it. We arent rich and I had just tooken the money out to pay a bill. Luckily I found where I left it (at my dads) but this would of totally messed us up. The money you found may be needed for something really important... School clothes, medicine, food, or whatever. Our gov't takes enough of our money as well as big corporations overcharging us on everything. So help a person out.
Since you're asking, I think you will probably do the right thing. If you were that cold you would of took it without a second thought. We need more honest people out there.

I'd send it back cash and all.

But if I lost a wallet and I got it back minus the cash I'd still be somewhat happy that I didn't need to go through the hassle of replacing the id.

Why don't you call the guy and ask him to come get it? It would be less trouble for you and he'd be more likely to give you some of the cash if it was face to face, I'd think.

No you shouldn't take the cash, give it back to him. Would you want someone to keep your money. By the way, you don't know he could give you twice as much that was in the wallet as a reward. Just give the man all of his personals back.

Send it back with the cash in it. The feeling you'll get from that will be worth much more than $242.

Don't take any of his money out and send the whole thing to him. If he is a decent person he'll give you a reward for being so honest, and if he doesn't, then you know that at least YOU are a decent person and did the right thing.

No, you send the wallet, cash, credit cards, ID and anything else that might be in there back to the owner.

What if it was YOUR wallet? Wouldn't you want your money back?

What if that money was to feed his children or pay the rent?
Please send it back intact and reduce the amount by $5 for mailing it - if you have to.

Just put yourself in the other person's shoes. Had it been your wallet lost, wouldn't you want it returned to you with everything in it? Besides, it's your conscience and you don't want to think of yourself as a theif, do you?
