Inspired by the millions of immigrants who took to the streets to demand legal residency, Latino advocacy groups and politicians have called for a national Latino congress to keep the issue in the political spotlight.
Organizers are inviting leaders from across the political spectrum to Los Angeles - the country's Latino epicenter - to draft an agenda for strengthening immigrant rights, health care and education.

"These mobilizations have shown that the immigrant community and the Latino community have political potential in impacting public policy," said Angela Sanbrano, president of the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities.

"But we cannot assume that we are unified."

In fact, a number of groups favoring tighter controls on illegal immigration from Mexico and Central America count Latino residents among their members.

They have stated their purpose and intent in the Mecha constitution. The La Raza agenda also states clearly what they plan to do, and all the rest of their groups. They all pretty much say the same things. They're very organized and very serious. They have a huge number of memebers in these groups. It's a political army of sorts with intentions of violence against America and our people. They have made it clear that they have NO intention of assimilating and NO intention of following our laws. They are NOT hiding these facts from us at all, any one can go online and read their plans. Anyone reading this stuff should be able to see the seriousness of this and understand the extreme threat these groups pose. It's all there for us in black and white and yet a large part of the American people continue to support them. I truly do not understand why. They call us paranoid. I think not. They said they were planning to do this and they are getting it done right infront of our faces. How do some American people stand by and support this? It's an all out invasion and take over our country, once subtle but now blatent. Here's a little something from their Mecha constitution......We recognize that no one is born politically Chicana or Chicano. Chicanismo results from a decision based on a political consciousness for our Raza, to dedicate oneself to building a Chicana/Chicano Nation. Chicanismo is a concept that integrates self-awareness with cultural identity, a necessary step in developing political consciousness. Therefore the term Chicano is grounded in a philosophy, not a nationality. Chicanismo does not exclude anyone, rather it includes those who acknowledge and work toward the betterment of La Raza. Chicanismo involves a personal decision to reject assimilation and work towards the preservation of our cultural heritage.

Their goal is NOT to come to America and be Americans! They intend our Nation harm and are letting us know about it. They've done well at dividing the American people on the immigration issue and that's all they really needed to set the rest of their plans in motion. I am confident that there will be war, and I believe these groups are counting on it.

we r already getting backlash by the ignorant ppl in the US. i for one don't care what anyone one of the RACISTS have to say about Mexicans, cuz in the end i pay my own bills, i take care of my child, i pay taxes, i own property & so on. i could care less what others think of me, unlike some of the teens & average americans that only think of Prada or Gucci or cell phones or whatever!! this is what makes me sick, there are far to little morals & foundation & way too much ignorance & disrespect among Americans today. Me wanting my laws upheld does not make me racist, but you can think whatever you want. Your one track mind shows your lack of intelligence.
