Look for a community. "A Christian on his own is a Christian in danger".
"The Immitation of Christ" by Thomas a Kempis is always a good tip.
Try to be consistent about your prayer time. Prayer enlarges your heart and makes you, step by step, ever more like Jesus.
God bless!

Give up the addiction. Pray that the Lord will curb your cravings and give you strength each day. In the Old Testament before the priest went into the holy of holies he had to wash. We no longer do that since our rejuvenation is the Holy Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to cleanse you each time you pray and this will help. Thank you for your question, I didn't think anyone else cared about being more Christ like. Follow the examples that Jesus set forth when He was on this earth. God Bless you so much and I have faith that He will hear you.

Are you saved through JESUS? if so, all run into problems when we conform ourselves to the world. Look for guidance through prayer and church. When you surround yourself with those of the same faith you will be suprised that your worries will be lifted from you, by faith. Faith is defined as the things that are hoped for, but evidence which is not seen. HEBREWS.. Start studying the word, the rest will come. intouchministries.com is a great start. They have things on tape and which puts the word into simplier terms. Get a student bible. I am so pleased to hear that their are youth wanting to be more like Christ. There will be those that criticize you but,, you are promised a reward and crown in HEaven for standing up and setting yourself apart from others. See the world first hated Jesus Christ, and they will hate you too. So they want to pull you on their side. Don't let them my friend. Stick with obedience of the WOrd, and you will BE BLESSED.. believe that. Set yourself apart from the world, God has a great plan for you. just study.. be blessed. and you can email me for further.

First of all, if you are born again, you are not average. You got the creator of heaven and earth in you. If you want to be like our Lord. Spend time with him. Read His word. I would advise just the New Testament if you do not know it well. Always walk in Love. That is the Key, Love. Jesus said He will manifest Himself and the Father if you follow His commandment, which is Love. If you have a Pastor, talk with your Pastor for guidance, your Pastor has a special part in your life. The Holy Spirit will show you, He will talk to you, and show you through the Word. God Bless. If you got any questions email me. I would love to pray and be a blessing>

Two things i give you. One is nothing but pure 100% america raw WILL POWER. The battle is in your will. Your will power. You determination. Your commitment. To fight whatever addiction.
Second is the Holy Spirit. Be baptized if you have not. Both in water and in the Holy Spirit.
If you are serious with God and take that first step of the will and decision of the will, God will enable you thru His Holy Spirit to withsatnd whatever temptation. And get matured Christian who are in the deliverance team to break any bondage that the devil have curse on you.
End of the day is you. You can say whatever you like, but once you make the commitment and decisioion of the will deep down in your soul and know you mean it and repent from it.

You are on your way! At 17, you seem very mature, even with your little addiction.
Jesus is the perfect example of being faithfull. Read the Bible, take time to Pray, and don't forget that you are human and you will stumble along the way. We all do. Personally, I just joined the Catholic Church, and it has so many good programs and people that share the same faith making it much easier.
Share the gifts that God gave you!
Peace!

Where to start brother. First, you need to get away from the addiction. It will hender you until you do. Keep listening to postiive music. I listen to rap music myself. I used to listen to secular music, but there's so many good Christian ones, that's all I buy now. Christianmixtapes, is a good place to buy music. Find a good Bible-believing Church, and join it. Calavarly Chapel is a very good group of Churches. Go ahead and turn off the computer first of all... Start praying all day, everyday.
Again. get help with the addiction FIRST!! Keep in the word, and GO and join a CHURCH. Jesus IS AWESOME. he helped clean up my life. You will find so much negatively here, turn off the computer, and GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

So heres the thing. The bible says "17So then faith come by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17. In order to draw close to God you have to read his word. Read the bible, everyday. Start with Mattew and read till the end. When you begin to know who Jesus is and was, then you will be like him, your spirit will yearn to be like the man on the page.

you sound like a great person, and your only 17, I know it's hard to fight with things in our lives and any addiction is hard, but just ask for his help and it will be there. I try to be more Christ like by just showing love, I bet you know at least 3 people that need help right now.
reach out to them, by say email or phone even
if they don't know you and never will,
Jesus just want us to love each other.
god bless you, and you know what,
I know he will.

Pray, pray, pray! If you're having a bad morning, stop and start giving thanks for everything you do have, from the warm water you had to take a shower to the sunrise, to having toothpaste so you could brush your teeth, everything! We are supposed to give thanks in everything, and when I'm feeling cranky I start giving thanks for everything, no matter how small, that I can think of, and that turns my attitude around. I'm happy that you're only seventeen and you have the right idea! As far as your addiction goes, depending on what it is, find counseling, pray on it, and trust that God will pull you out of it!
